NCOMPASS
NcompasS is managed by a consortium of agencies - Leargas in Ireland, the Youth Council for NI, and the British Council in NI. It is funded through the Cross-Border Consortium under the EU Peace II Programme and part financed by the UK and Irish Governments.
NcompasS arose from the need to promote greater understanding, mutual respect and reconciliation between people of different cultural traditions in Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland.
By facilitating the creation of sustainable North South partnerships in both the formal and non-formal education sectors, NcompasS hope to furnish opportunities for young people and those who work with them to meet and engage in such a way that misunderstanding and ignorance are diminished and that issues which are relevant to them can be addressed in a supportive and positive manner and environment.
In addition it also seeks to address issues of exclusion and social disadvantage experienced by young people in rural and urban areas on both sides of the border.
