In April 2007, the Youth Council for Northern Ireland played joint host to 20 participants from a range of EU and neighbouring countries for a week-long SALTO (Support Advanced Learning & Training Opportunities) training course on the theme of 'Faith & Dialogue', aimed at building skills and confidence amongst youth workers, so as to better enable dialogue between identities shaped by faith.
The main objective of the course was to increase awareness and understanding of key concepts such as faith, religion, dialogue and identity, and how they influence dialogue and interaction in a diverse community. Priority was given to participants, with grassroots experience of inter-faith dialogue projects, active
within an intercultural youth work context, and able to support the implementation of future international projects and activities.
