NORTHERN IRELAND YOUTH AWARDS 2010

INNOVATION AWARD


WINNER : Opportunity Youth - (GRIT Project)
GRIT
is a residential experience which provides support to young people from across Northern Ireland who have not succeeded in their formal education and have a wide range of needs. The programme is based on a series of challenges: Life Reflection, Survival Techniques, Self Discovery and Communication. Each young person is assigned a mentor to provide follow-up support.

 

RUNNER-UP
Sunlea Youth Centre, Ballycastle
'Hey Baby' Project

'Hey Baby' involved 12 young girls aged between 12–17 exploring issues around teenage pregnancy.  They attended a teenage pregnancy weekend with six real care babies.

RUNNER-UP
Kilkeel Young Women's Project

A group of 20 young women took part in a programme designed to challenge young people's perceptions of beauty and image and included organising a fashion show.  The title of the fashion show was Clones V Unique.
