NORTHERN IRELAND YOUTH AWARDS 2010

PEACE BUILDING AWARD
JOINT WINNER
North West Forum for Peace & Reconciliation

The WELB North West Forum for Peace & Reconciliation is a peer-led project to develop trust and tolerance among young people, to engage young people to be more active in their communities, and to celebrate and highlight the richness of diversity in different cultures.  This is a project supported by the EU Peace 111 Programme.

Pictured receiving their award from Cool FM's Connor Phillips & Norma Rea, YCNI, are group members: Michael Kelly, Michael Mullen, Ross Cooper, Darren McConnell & Dairmuid Durmin with Fortunate Mgubehi (front).
JOINT WINNER
3D Lurgan Project

This Youth Reach cross-community project brought young people together to discuss issues of division in Lurgan.  They created a 3D model of Lurgan using graffiti art to show the different areas.  The model was the end result, but the important aspect of the project was, that it gave the young people from different communities the opportunity to work together.

Pictured receiving their award from Norma Rea, YCNI & Cool FM's Connor Phillips are group members: Molly Bibb, Katie-Jane Long & CJ Silcock.
RUNNER-UP
Carrickfergus YMCA

The 'History of Glenfield through the eyes of a Teeneager' project involved young people looking at identity, paramilitarism, nationalism, unionism, flags and emblems, as well as a shared future, through multi-media.
