Volunteer


Zoe Stock

Zoe is a volunteer in Redburn Youth Club, she works with the afterschool club 3 afternoons a week and volunteers in the youth club on a Thursday night. She is about to commence the OCN Trainee Leaders Course.


Gillian Presho

Volunteer with NICE, a community relations youth work charity working in the Greater Belfast area. Gillian helps in a wide range of programmes from informal groupwork sessions, in school education programmes, international programmes, through to residential work. As a result of volunteering, Gillian is now studying Youth & Community Work.

The Dolphon Culb Volunteer Team (Share)

The Volunteer team of 10 work with children and young people aged 8-16, all of whom are affected by Down's Syndrome, Cerebal Palsy, Federicks Ataxia and/or are Autism spectrum. Through water based activities young people with disabilities gain new skills and confidence that will have a positive transferable impact on other areas of their lives.

Ards Par Ball League

Parball is an inclusive indoor wheelchair sport with specific intention of bringing together young people with and without disabilities. 9 teams involving 60 young people took part in a parball league comprising of a Junior section 12-14yrs and senior section 15-18yrs. All players play in wheelchairs, therefore no one has a distinct advantage.


Aspergers Youth Group

The project a partnership between Clarawood School, Upper Springfield Development Trust, West Belfast Area Project, and Corpus Christi Youth Club. The group enables young people with Aspergers to have social interaction and relationship building opportunities with their peers. The programme facilitates the development of social and life skills that support their progress through to adulthood.

Ballybeen Action Zone BAZ

The project is aimed at empowering young people to make positive alternative life choices. The project has engaged over 300 young people helping raise educational achievement and social skills.

Colin Area Youth Forum

The Youth Forum consists of young people aged 14+ from the greater Colin area (Twinbrook, Poleglass & Lagmore). The young people plan different community activities eg. fun days, summer scheme, health & safety days. They have produced an alcoholo awareness DVD and have engaged with local community leaders on issues that effect them.


Kingdom Youth Club Senior Member Group

The Senior Member Group is made up of 18 young people 14-19. Young people are directlty involved in decision making and have taken responsibility and ownership of the project.

NCD Youth Council

The Youth Council has developed opportunities for young people to discuss issues empowering them to voice their concerns and encourage the implementation of activities and participative models for other young people in the community.

Glebeside Youth Club Life Chances

Members of the Youth Club have designed LIfe Chances boardgame. It is a game providing information on the dangers of drugs, alcohol and smoking.


NEELB Safe Horizons Project

The project involved 70 young women 13-18 yrs from Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus and Larne. It was a cross community project focusing on the theme of Safety (personal and communities).

Carrickfergus YouthCouncil Monster Health Calendar

The aim of the project was to design and produce a calendar for young people that provided information on various health issues.

Coleraine Youth Council Beach Fest 2007

Young people organised a music festival which was a vehicle to promote socialising safety in the North Coast after a spate of attacks.


Ballynahinch Youth Council - Blast

Young people organised an event offering young people the opportunity to play their own music and a chance to win a day in a recording studio. All the money raised went to a local charity - Music Therapy Trust.

Kerry-Lee White 'Chill Out', Portursh Youth Centre

The young people have created an environment to enable young people from the Portuguese and Polish communities to participate in the youth club activities.

Down Youth Office - International NEWS Exchange

The project focused on the environment and provided participants with the opportunity to compare and contrast the topic of the environment within a European context.


1st Groomsport Rainbows (Olivia Around the World)

Olivia is the official Rainbow Doll, she is presented at meetings. A record of Olivia's activities from around the world are sent to the Rainbow unit.

Youth Interactive Web 4

Multi-lateral exchange project with Sweden, Italy and Spain, exploring issues of identity, culture and tolerance through creative arts and ICT.

Glenbawn Youth Group & North Down Impact

The project involved young people from the Colin and Kilcooly estates. Young people were involved in a British and Irish history project, they visited the Falls Road and Shankill Road on tour with ex-political prisoners, visited Stormont, and the Somme and Flanders Fields. They also took part in groupwork sessions in each others youth clubs and make a DVD of their time in France and Belgium.


Youth & Community Reconciliation Project Corrymeela

29 youngpeople took part in the programme looking at Justice & Rights, Racial Awareness and Disability Awareness. Participants achieved a Youth Achievement Award.

Colette Donaghy & Jordan Galway (Portrush Youth Club) - World War II Histroy/Remembrance Sunday Project

The project examined the history and impact of World War II, introducted firsthand knowledge for older people, examined the impact of the troubles and the legacy it has left on our communities.


Ballyoran Young Womens Group - Discovering Diversity
