GOOD RELATIONS AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE levEL 1

The Good Relations and Cultural Diversity for Young People unit is a part-time, OCNNI credit-based qualification designed for young people aged 15-17* who have:

- been involved in a youth group;
- demonstrated an interest in learning about issues of identity and community;
- leadership potential;
- been recommended by the leader-in-charge (or equivalent).

The 30 hour programme aims to provide experiential learning opportunities for young people to further their knowledge and understanding of the themes of identity, culture, diversity, community conflict, local and global citizenship and democracy.

The programme is accredited at level one and consists of five learning outcomes which are sub-divided into a series of tasks which, on completion should enable young people to meet the assessment criteria.

Candidates reaching the required standard after the assessment of competence in all five learning outcomes will be awarded the Good Relations and Cultural Diversity Certificate accredited by the Open College Network Northern Ireland.

*While young people can register for the programme at 15, they must be 16 on the date of completion.
