PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT for introductory cr/edi work with young people level 3
The Programme Development for Introductory CR/EDI Work with Young People unit is for learners who have completed the Introduction to CR/EDI and wish to progress to deliver introductory youth work programmes in this area. It has been designed to provide a flexible platform to increase learner’s knowledge, skill and understanding of the delivery of CR/EDI based programmes with young people and to help them develop the confidence to be effective in this important area.
A minimum of five tutor-led sessions are recommended during the course of the programme. Following an induction session, additional key themes to be covered will include: Planning to Deliver a CR/EDI programme; Co-Facilitating a CR/EDI Programme (including time spent examining facilitation skills), and Reflection and Evaluation. During the induction session tutors are encourgaed to complete a training needs analysis. Tutors will tailor the fifth session to meet specifc training needs which candidates may have identified during the induction session.
In addition to participation in the tutor led sessions candidates are expected to co-facilitate a basic CR/EDI programme with a group of young people lasting a minimum of 6 sessions of no less than 90 minutes. The programme should focus on dealing with contentious issues and building relationships. Assessment is based on the production of a report and supporting evidence to demonstrate a learner’s effective achievement of this.
The notional length of the programme is 90 hours, which includes tutorial sessions, completion of worksheets, planning, delivering and evaluating an introductory CR/EDI programme and building a portfolio of evidence.
Learners who successfully show they have achieved the Learning Outcomes will be awarded an OCN NI Certificate in the Training for Youth Work Programme, Level 3 Programme Development for Introductory CR/EDI Work with Young People Unit.
