The Youth Work Training Board is a sub-committee of the Youth Council. It provides a forum wherein representatives of recognised agencies involved in the training of youth workers, both part-time and full-time, voluntary and statutory, come together to share ideas, promote good practice, and support and develop youth work training at all levels in Northern Ireland.

assess and respond to the education, training and development needs of employers, staff and volunteers working with children and young people; |

represent Northern Ireland in the development of relevant occupational standards and a coherent and progressive system of competencies, qualifications and continuing professional development, on appropriate Sector Skills Councils; |

represent to DE and others the training and education interests of those working with children and young people; |
| » |
relate to higher and further education providers, and potential providers; |
| » |
through an Education and Training Standards Committee (ETS), develop quality assurance systems to ensure that qualifications and training and education meets the needs of learners, employers and the service as a whole; |
| » |
advise and support employers in developing appropriate policies and practices which will facilitate the development of their staff and volunteers; |
| » |
develop links with those representing other related professions in relation to training and development issues; |
| » |
promote the inclusion of those presently experiencing unfair discrimination in accessing education or training in work with children and young people. |
